What a difference an upgrade makes. When Sjørring switched from Hardox® 450 to Hardox® 500 Tuf in their new bucket range, they reduced bucket weight and fuel use, and got more load capacity and higher performance.
“In 2021, we launched a lightweight range of buckets for excavators called HYPER. It’s developed for increased capacity in general earthmoving applications and road building. The buckets have been tested in the field for more than a year now, and the reactions from the machine operators have been very positive. In this industry, weight and fuel consumption are big topics. Less weight in the bucket means more load capacity, plus less wear and tear on the machine. We are now ready to offer the HYPER bucket range to OEM customers – even under their own brand, if they want.” Klaus Kalstrup, CEO of Sjørring.
Get in touch to reduce bucket weight with Hardox® 500 TufSjørring was able to reduce the weight of the HYPER bucket range by upgrading from Hardox® 450 to Hardox® 500 Tuf. This Hardox® steel has the same hardness as Hardox® 500 and practically the same toughness as Hardox® 450. This allowed for the use of 12 mm (0.47″) Hardox® 500 Tuf instead of 15 mm (0.59″) Hardox® 450 without jeopardizing the wear life or durability of the buckets.
Get the full picture of Hardox® 500 Tuf“My HYPER bucket weighs 200 kg (441 lbs.) less than a standard bucket. This means I can have this same amount more in my HYPER bucket because it’s made with Hardox® 500 Tuf. The bucket works well together with my excavator because it’s so light.”
“We only have good experiences from Hardox® 500 Tuf here in the workshop. It never gives us any problems. It performs well in cutting, bending and welding, and we don’t have to upgrade our factory equipment.” Kaj Verner Nielsen, welding coordinator at Sjørring.
Sjørring was founded in 1946 in the small town of the same name in northern Denmark. Since then, the company has developed into the leading strategic partner in supplying quality attachments for heavy construction equipment to globally leading brands such as Volvo, Hitachi, Steelwrist and Doosan.
Sjørring builds its success by pushing the limits and setting new standards for how much the right bucket can contribute to the overall value creation of a construction machine. The company’s position as a market leader is also the result of using Hardox® high-strength steel in its products.
“SSAB has been very helpful in the design of the HYPER bucket range. We wanted to get as much performance as possible from Hardox® and we really got the support we needed from SSAB before we started producing the buckets,” Kalstrup says. The lightweight HYPER buckets are Hardox® In My Body certified, which is a solid confirmation to customers that the buckets live up to the highest standards on design and manufacturing.
Hardox® HiAce meets the challenges of corrosive wear in municipal and industrial waste management, waste-to-energy plants, in mining and in other industries with acidic environments.
