EPDs for SSAB Zero™ available
SSAB Zero™ is made using recycled steel and fossil-free electricity, biocoal and biofuels. It reduces the embeded CO2e emissions from the steel by up to 77% compared to hot-rolled steel made in SSAB’s blast furnace production system. Without compromising on quality or performance, SSAB Zero™ helps lower the carbon footprint of your construction and manufacturing projects.
Our EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations), provide third-party-verified data on the environmental impact of SSAB Zero™. They enable you to communicate about the sustainable performance of your products.

Wasn’t SSAB Zero™ supposed to be <0.05 kg CO2e/kg steel?
- <0.05 kg CO2e/kg steel Represents the emissions from SSAB’s own operations, where we have largely eliminated Scope 1 and 2 emissions following the process description documented by Trinity Consultants (based on applicable parts of standard ISO 14067). This reflects our commitment to fossil-free steel production.
- 0.47 kg CO2e/kg steel Includes the entire cradle-to-gate carbon footprint, covering upstream raw materials and all production steps, as per EPD standards (ISO 14025 & EN 15804+A2).
<0.05 kg CO2e/kg steel and 0.47 kg CO2e/kg steel
