SSAB receives environmental permit to transform steel plant in Luleå
SSAB has received the necessary permit from the Land and Environmental Court in Umeå to build and operate a mini-mill in Luleå, Sweden, that will replace the current steel plant. The permit will enable a technology shift that will have significant positive effects on the environment and the climate. It will also allow SSAB to meet the high demand for our unique steels and to strengthen our future competitiveness.

SSAB has appointed Helena Norrman as EVP & Head of Group Communications, a newly-created role in the company’s Group Executive Committee. Helena will take up the position by April 16 and will be responsible for communication at SSAB.

HYBRIT honoured with World Economic Forum GAEA award in Davos
24 January 2025Fossil-free iron- and steelmaking initiative HYBRIT received the World Economic Forum's ‘Moving Force in Business’ Award. This GAEA award, one of five, recognizes sustainable business solutions that have the potential to transform whole sectors, industries or markets. HYBRIT was launched in 2016 by steel company SSAB, mining company LKAB and energy company Vattenfall, who together own the project.
