Normalized or normalized rolled structural steel heavy plate.
SSAB Multisteel SN is hot rolled structural steel for general steel constructions. SN = Structural Normalized.
Exceeding the requirements of several standard steel grades, SSAB Multisteel SN is a versatile structural steel for fabricated products and steel frame structures. Formability and highly consistent quality guarantee fast, uninterrupted production, generating clear savings in the costs of material management.
SSAB Multisteel SN exceeds several steel standards and is available as four standard steel grades: S355K2+N, S355J2+N, S355J0+N and S355JR+N according to EN 10025-2.
CE marking:
SSAB Raahe Works is authorized to use the CE marking for structural steels according to EN 10025-2 based on EN 10025-1.
The CE marking is marked on an extra page of inspection certification 3.1.
SSAB Multisteel SN is available in thickness of 5.00 - 150.00 mm.
The mechanical properties are tested transverse to the direction of rolling.
The impact test is made longitudinal to the rolling direction in compliance with EN 10025-1 and EN 10025-2.
Thickness ¾ from EN 10029 Class A.
Width and length according to EN 10029.
Flatness tolerance 4 mm/m.
Surface according to EN 10163-2 Class A subclass 1.
Typically(can be chosen by SSAB).
5.00 – 30.00 mm: normalized rolled.
30.01 – 150 mm: normalized.
Shot blasted & primed surface is available upon request.
SSAB Multisteel SN provides two different certificates:
EN 10204-3.1 for SSAB Multisteel SN.
EN 10204-3.1+CE for S355K2/J2/J0/JR+N EN 10025-2.
Welding:
Weldability is excellent with all welding processes. Increased working temperature requirements are less than those of the corresponding strength grades of standard steels. This means easier welding and cost savings under both workshop and site welding conditions.
Needed working temperatures for thick plates please consult SSAB Tech Support.
Forming:
SSAB Multisteel offers better formability properties than standard steels. Successful forming requires that the manufacturer uses good workshop techniques. Worn tools, poor lubrication, scratches on the surface of the steel as well as edge burrs will all reduce forming quality.
Guaranteed minimum bending radius for all directions is 1.5 x t up to 30 mm thick plate where t = plate thickness.
Heat treatment:
Recommendations for stress relieving and normalizing
Stress relieving 550 – 600°C (target 580°C)
2 minutes/millimeter of thickness, however, 30 minutes minimum. Slow cooling in the furnace.
Normalizing 900 – 940°C (target 920°C)
1 minute/millimeter of thickness, however, 20 minutes minimum. Cooling in free air.
Options:
Two options for SSAB Multisteel SN are specified below. In the event that the purchaser does not indicate his wish to implement either of these options, SSAB shall supply in accordance with the basic specification. Option can be implement one at a time, not together.
