When upgrading to Strenx® 960 Plus the Italian OEM Mantella has taken a great leap in trailer design. Z-shaped bended beams replaced the traditional concept of longitudinal welded I-beams. The company’s innovative trailer chassis in Strenx® 960 Plus weighs in on par with aluminum, and has all the durability, fatigue strength and production advantages of steel.
Read the full caseWhen safety matters, truck and trailer bodybuilders should carefully consider their choice of material to build rear impact guards for underride protection. The right type of steel in rear impact guards can help to lower the risk of fatal injuries in rear-end collisions involving heavy-duty vehicles and passenger cars, two-wheeled vehicles or lighter-duty vehicles.
See the benefits of Strenx® 960 in RUPDStrenx® 960 can be welded using any conventional welding method. MAG welding is the most common technique today, since it is very easy to automate for high productivity.
Download welding brochureStrenx® 960 can usually be machined without special equipment. Stable machinery fitted with high-speed steel and carbide tools is recommended when drilling, countersinking, tapping, turning, and milling.
Download machining brochureFree bending and roll bending of Strenx® steel plate and strip can be done using standard bending machinery. Uniform properties, close thickness tolerances and high surface quality ensure a predictable bending process.
Download bending brochureThe properties and fine surface finish of Strenx® 960 plate and strip makes it perfect for laser cutting. Thermal cutting of hot-rolled Strenx® 960 steel sheet and plate is performed with oxy-fuel flame, plasma and laser.
Download thermal cutting brochureMechanical cutting of Strenx® 960 is best performed with guillotine shears. Consider carefully the settings of the cutting machine. The most important factors are clearance, cutting angle and blade hardness. The plate should be allowed to warm up thoroughly to around +20°C (68° F) before it is cut.
Strenx® guarantees include tight thickness tolerances, tight flatness tolerances and bending properties. The tight thickness tolerances enable you to know the weight more precisely. As a result, you can reduce your safety margins. Precise thickness within a plate and between plates makes for safe and predictable performance in the workshop.
